Fansipan Mountain (Sapa)

The tallest peak in Vietnam promises stunning views and a rejuvenating journey.

Test your limits at Fansipan Mountain, the tallest peak in Vietnam. As you trek through the small mountain paths, you’ll be rewarded with beautiful surroundings, filled with a vast array of trees, flowers and shrubs. High up on the mountain, you’ll have an amazing view of the landscape and villages below as well, so take your time to take it all in. Fansipan’s summit is marked by a peculiar metal pyramid and was installed by Soviet engineers in 1985.

At more than 3,000 metres tall, the Fansipan Mountain takes at least two days to climb – three if you want to tackle the more challenging route. There are rest stops along the way, as well as camping sites equipped with wooden huts, sleeping bags and bathrooms for overnight lodging. Set off for the peak early the next morning to see the sunrise from the top of the mountain. It may be tiring, but the view is spectacular and more than worth the effort.
