Famous for the finger bones of Sakyamuni, Famen Temple also houses rare historical relics and imperial treasures.
Be amazed by the 148m Namaste Dagoba in the complex of Famen Temple - possibly the highest Buddhist stupa in the world, designed by the architect who conceived Taipei 101. A site of Buddhist pilgrimage, four relics of the Buddha can be found here, while three duplicates of the Buddha Sarira are enshrined in an underground palace of the True Relic Pagoda.
Constructed out of white marble, the palace’s walls and gates are all engraved, but the highlight is the preserved Buddhist finger relic which rests in the heart of the underground palace. Wrapped in fine silk, the finger bone was preserved in an elegant box with an exquisitely carved silver lock. Admire one of the earliest royal tea set ever discovered - the gilt silver tea set, as well as other treasures such as an embroidered skirt of Empress Wu Zetian.
