EYE Film Institute, Amsterdam

One of the finest film museums in the world celebrates the development of the moving picture and its pioneering innovators.

Delve into the world of film and cinema at the EYE Film Institute, a museum celebrating the moving picture and its development. Here, you’ll find fascinating and almost archaic relics from the earliest days of movie-making. These include props of classic films such as Charlie Chaplin’s “The Waiter”, an early projector romantically dubbed the Magic Lantern, and the iconic 1935 Mitchell 35mm Camera, which was used to film “Star Wars”.

The museum houses several cinemas as well, and screens movies every day. Lovers of classic films will fall in love with its nostalgic movie theatre, containing only 67 seats and looking just like those from the early 20th century. If you’re looking for a modern movie experience, the EYE Film Institute has a state-of-the-art cinema as well.
