Expo Commemoration Park

Venue of the Expo ’70.

The Expo Commemoration Park was the site of the Osaka Expo held in 1970. Located just 30 minutes by train from Osaka City, this highly accessible park is enjoyed by both locals and visitors alike. Visit the National Museum of Ethnology, or take a walk around the Japanese Garden, created with the most advanced Japanese landscaping technology at that time. Visitors should also not miss out on The Tower of the Sun, designed by Tarō Okamoto (1911 – 1996). Admire the sheer size of this tower (it stands at 70 meters tall!) and its artistic style as it stands majestically over the park. In comparison, the Statue of Liberty in the USA is only 47 meters! It should be noted that the park is also one of the best places to enjoy cherry blossom viewing, and the lawn square is sprawled with beautiful seasonal flowers like Sakura and Ajisai.
