Estadio Alberto J. Armando (La Bombonera)

It’s not known as one of the most emblematic stadiums of the world for nothing.

Although officially named the Estadio Alberto J. Armand, this stadium is fondly referred to as La Bombonera (the chocolate box), for its shape. The stadium has a “flat” stand on one side, and three steep stands surround the rest of the stadium.

Owned by one of Argentina’s top football clubs, the Boca Juniors, the stadium’s excellent acoustics have earned it the nickname “La Doce” (the 12th man). If you have the luck of going on a match day, the streets around the stadium will be an indiscernible sea of blue and yellow, with the cries of fans echoing well into the air and feeding the almost manic atmosphere. You will be in for an even bigger treat if you can catch the Superclásico derby of the club against River Plate, providing one of the best spectator sport experiences. The stadium has also welcomed performers like Elton John and the Backstreet Boys to perform. Die-hard fans, let it be known that you haven’t really experienced a soccer game until you see a match at La Bombonera.
