A picturesque cove with green hills and sloping Greek houses.
Set by verdant hills, Ermones Beach is a small shingle beach that retains the charm of rural Greece. In the stillness, you can relax to the lulling swish of sea waves or explore the peripheral rocky coast and its hidden caves by renting a motorboat.
Now, I shan’t dictate what time you should visit, but – instead of the usual sunset over the sea, Ermones Beach offers a unique sight of the sun dipping below a lush green valley to your right, its bright glow colouring the sky orange and pink. Fancy more privacy? Walk further down the stretch of Ermones Beach where there are several smaller bays and find a secluded spot all for yourself! Ermones Beach also makes an appearance in Homer’s Odyssey as the place where Odysseus was washed ashore by Poseidon’s wrathful storm after blinding Cyclops. Perhaps it is the magic of Greek legends, but Ermones Beach is the most scenic beach you will encounter.
