Ericsson Globe

Representing the Sun in the Sweden Solar System, the world’s largest scale model of the Solar System, the Ericsson globe truly is a shining spectacle of a stadium.

The distinctive hemispherical shape and bright red interior of the Ericsson Globe sets it apart from other arenas and makes it a marvel to behold. Standing at a height of 85 metres with a diameter of 110 metres, it is the largest of its kind, with a seating capacity of a whopping 16,000 spectators for shows and concerts, and with an only slightly fewer 13,850 spectators for ice hockey. The globe has seen countless iconic moments in performance history, ranging from Sweden winning the hockey world championships to the great Nelson Mandela’s speech and world-famous musicians like Justin Bieber and Beyonce even taking centre stage. It is renowned for its incredible flexibility, being able to effortlessly adapt its size and arrangements to suit each event, thanks to its adjustable seats that can slide in and out.

A main attraction for the Globe is Skyview, 2 spherical transparent glass elevators that raise visitors 130 metres along parallel tracks on the exterior of the building, each of which can accommodate up to 16 passengers. The ride to the top takes around 20 minutes, and the view at the top is undoubtedly worth it, providing unbeatably clear views of the city that will take your breath away. Be sure to catch one of the spectacular performances in the Globe to be able to fully appreciate the architectural sophistication and ingenuity of the interior of the building as well.

Tips Before You Go
Since there are only 2 carriages on Skyview, one can expect a short wait before your turn, during which you can while the time away at the small shopping area nearby or at one of the restaurants and cafes at the Globe, where time will pass in a flash. Remember to bring along a camera if you want to capture pictures of the incredible views, as the elevator does pause for 5 minutes at the top for this purpose. The Globe is easily accessible by underground to the Globen or Gullmarsplan stations, and there are also numerous buses that will take you directly there.
