Thinking of exploring the Moroccan sand dunes on a camel while enjoying the sunset? You should read on before heading there.
What can be more exciting than embarking on a journey on the sand dunes of Morocco’s Erg Chebbi Dunes? Minus the camel (we can’t imagine putting our weight on a poor animal), the thought of cruisin’ along giant hills of fine, golden sand got us excited! Although you might not be able to see much seeing as it’s just miles of sand everywhere. Lying close to Algeria, the Erg Chebbi Dunes is one of the country’s two Saharan dunes, now more accessible than they were in the past, thanks to the advent of 4WDs. You can easily roam across the entire dunes in mere hours as a result of the vehicles, and you’ll get to do it in relative comfort too, seeing as they’re air conditioned. Gone are the days when travellers would need to lug around tons of supplies when exploring the desert. It is believed that the Erg Chebbi Dunes came about as a form of punishment by God for refusing to host an exhausted traveller. But the hills here are so pretty that the punishment doesn’t even seem harsh enough. If you stay till the evening and see the sunset, you’ll definitely be left spellbound as well. Curse or not, it’s up to you to decide when you visit this gorgeous landscape.
