Enoshima Aquarium (新江ノ島水族館)

Better than the real deal.

For an in-depth look inside the marine habitat of Enoshima without actually having to get wet, there could be no better place than the Enoshima Aquarium. One of the main draws here is the Jellyfish Fantasy Hall, whose name is no exaggeration. You can see a plethora of jellyfish happily swimming about here, without worrying about their gut-wrenching sting. In fact, Emperor Hirohito used to research upon jellyfish here in the early part of the 20th century. Your young ones will also squeal with delight at the captivating dolphin performances and the penguin exhibition.

For those of you looking for something you cannot find elsewhere, observe the Shirasu exhibit in the ‘Sagami Lake Zone’. This exhibit features the larva of anchovies and sardines, and is difficult to see while swimming. Enoshima Aquarium is truly an unforgettable experience that cannot be easily found anywhere else!
