"The Eiffel Tower, La Tour Eiffel in French, was built in 1889 for the Universal Exhibition. Designed by French civil engineer, Gustave Eiffel, the tower was constructed to commemorate the centennial of the French Revolution, and was the main exhibit of the Paris Exposition or World's Fair.
