Eagle Falls

See why these falls are named after this magnificent bird.

If you’re in California and are willing to sweat to reach a waterfall that is as majestic as the creature it is named after, then look no further! Head down to Eagle Falls, near Lake Tahoe. Start your journey from Emerald Bay by climbing stairs crafted from a rock wall. A quarter of a mile into the trail, you can finally see the stunning falls, and grab your cameras for that Instagram-worthy shot.

To go further into the 1 mile trail, you are required to fill in a wilderness permit, conveniently located at the trailhead. Getting this permit is wise, as the trail concludes at the pristine Eagle Lake. Try to avoid visiting this lovely waterfall during summer months, as it is likely to be overcrowded, dampening (pun intended) your view of the feisty falls.
