Dove Lake

A peaceful lake at the foot of the impressive Cradle Mountain.

Walk around the perimeter of the still, mirror-like Dove Lake using the scenic Dove Lake Circuit, one of Tasmania’s best-loved bushwalks. This gentle, 6-kilometre trail is mostly boardwalk, offering some of the most spectacular views of the lake of Cradle Mountain and takes you through Dove Lake’s best highlights.

The Dove Lake Circuit takes you past the Glacier Rock, an ancient rock on the edge of the lake which is a relic of glacial activity in Tasmania during the Ice Age. About halfway through your walk, you will encounter the enchanting Ballroom Forest, a temperate rainforest filled with slender myrtle-beech trees and cloaked in a layer of soft moss. You will also get to see the famous boatshed. Sitting on the surface of the lake, its reflection in the water set against the background of Cradle Mountain’s twin peaks creates a beautiful, peaceful image for all to admire.

Get ready for a day of discovery as this 2-hour long circuit through gorgeous sceneries around Dove Lake and below the spires of Cradle Mountain!
