Netherland’s tallest (church tower).
This marvelous work of architecture is Utrecht's pride, for it is the tallest church tower in the Netherlands. Rising above ground to a height of about 368 feet, the tower is a prominent symbol of the city and as imposing as it is stunning. Built over a number of decades, it was meant to be a part of a cathedral that could not be completed. What's fascinating is that the tower stands at the exact spot where Utrecht first began a whole two millennia ago.
What’s more, you don’t have to resign yourself to admiring this tower from afar: you can make your way to the very top. If you’re up for the challenge of climbing all the 465 steps, you will be rewarded with a stunning panorama of the city! With such a delightful experience, you’re sure to remember Utrecht as seen from the top. If you get an inkling that you’ve seen this before, perhaps you’ve seen its replica in the Dutch theme park in Nagasaki, Japan.
