Design Museum, Gent

The only museum in the country with an international design collection!

The Design Museum Gent is situated in Ghent, Belgium, and was constructed in 1989. Out of its counterparts, it is famous for being the only museum in the country to house an international display on designs. The compound which is right in the middle of the city, encompasses an 18th century mansion and a modern sector, presenting a stark juxtaposition of the old and the new. The museum itself has an extensive and varied showcase on Belgian designs and international top-class artefacts. With an expansive collection running the gamut from contemporary avant-garde designs to the Art Nouveau of Henry, this is one place the art fanatics will call ‘heaven’

Stop by the museum regardless of whether you are a design buff or not, to learn a thing or two at its various displays such as the Art Deco, Organic Design, Modernism, Anti-Design and International Design collections. Before you leave, remember to look out for the enormous vase conceptualised by Italian designer, Andrea Branzi, that is bound to leave a lasting impression on you!
