Deogyusan Mountain National Park (Namdeogyu) (덕유산국립공원(남덕유분소))

A national park, home to over 600 species of flora and fauna and a majestic landscape of yew trees.

The Deogyusan National Park — which covers four counties, was officially established as a national park in 1975. It houses 17.5km of ridgelines from the Hyangjeokbong peak of Bukdeogyusan Mountain to Namdeogyusan Mountain and the average altitude is about 1200m high. Within the park sits Deogyusan Mountain, one of Korea's major tourist attraction. The mountain is famous for its temples and relics, as well as having a one of a kind ski resort. Other attractions in the park include the Jeoksangsanseong Fortress and Anguksa Temple. With over 600 species of plants and animals living here, this is certainly a must-go for nature lovers. What’s more, there is also a stunning landscape of yew trees, which will definitely make for a perfect photo opportunity. However, do take note that park regulations restrict hiking at night for safety reasons.

Tips Before You Go
Due to its high altitude, the temperatures can be rather chilly, even during the summer. Be sure to dress according to the respective seasons with that in mind. It is also recommended that you bring along water and some snacks to keep you energised during your hike. However, remember to pick up after yourself and keep the area clean.
