Dar Batha Museum

An opulent palace which served two sultans and was then turned into a treasure trove of traditional art.

This majestic 19th century palace built in the Arab-Andalusian style was converted into a museum in 1915, and houses an exquisite collection of Moroccan art and craft. The museum’s pride and joy lies in its pottery collection, dating back to the 10th century, when the method of decorating ceramics with the iconic “Fes Blue” was discovered. With delicate cobalt blue floral patterns painted onto white enamel, the beautiful pieces of pottery in Dar Batha rival the finest examples of Chinese porcelain.

Apart from pottery, the Dar Batha museum is also home to luxurious Berber carpets depicting their natural landscape, wood furniture featuring intricate carvings and carefully illuminated Qurans. Dar Batha’s vast collection showcasing the wealth of amazing skill and dedication of Moroccan craftsmen is sure to leave its visitors awestruck and enchanted.

Located within the heart of the medina, this museum is truly an unmissable site!
