Damstredet

Be charmed by this old-timey street.

Take a literal walk down memory lane at the Damstredet in Oslo, Norway. This street will leave you enchanted with its cobbled pavement and vibrant and colourful wooden houses that date back all the way to the 18th century. Located between Akersveien and Fredensborgveien, Damstredet stretches out to about 160m long, and is a far cry from the modern stylings typical of the Oslo city centre. This however was not always the case. The street used to be run down and filled with shanties. Now, this is a popular place for the more artistically-inclined folk to live in. For a taste of old-school Oslo, ensure that you stop by the Damstredet. Besides looking just like a street straight out from a fairy tale, the Damstredet’s antique charms will surely make you wish that you could live here too.

Tips Before You Go
Wear shoes with more friction when visiting in the winter, as the street can get rather slippery. The street itself is not exactly long either, so it is a definite must to take a stroll through it at least once while you’re in Oslo. The best part is that most tourists hardly walk here, so you should be able to enjoy a peaceful stroll at any time you choose to visit.
