Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliff (주상절리(대포동지삿개))

A geological feature offering breath-taking views of the ocean!

If views of the ocean fascinate you, then the Jusangjeolli Cliff is certainly a place to visit! Located 600m southwest of Daepo, the base of the cliff is where Jisatgae Coast sits. Stone pillars are piled up along the entire coast and are considered a cultural monument of Jeju island. The cliff was interestingly formed when the lava from Hallasan volcano erupted into the sea of Jungmun. The rock pillars are either cubic or hexagonal in shape and seem as if they were specially carved out by humans, especially if you view them from a distance. The cliff is also a famous spot for those shutterbugs looking to get spectacular photos of the crashing waves, so if you’re looking for a good place to take pictures, well, look no further.

Tips Before You Go
Do take note that there is an entry fee before you are allowed to enter the area. Furthermore, it is advised that you come on a weekday if you wish to get undisturbed views of the ocean. This place is packed during weekends, with everyone trying to take selfies of themselves with the ocean in the background. That’s definitely something you wouldn’t want to see.
