Behold the world’s largest collection of Cham artefacts.
The Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture houses an impressive collection of up to 300 artefacts and stone works of art ranging from the 7th to 15th centuries. Founded in 1919 during the French colonial rule, this two-storey museum is dedicated to storing and exhibiting relics of the Champa Golden Age. Conveniently located at the intersection of Bach Dang street and Trung Nu Vuong street by the Han River, the museum is worth a visit for visitors interested to learn more about Vietnam’s indigenous Cham community, and those fascinated by architectural works of art with French, Hindu and Buddhist influences. Sculptures are exhibited both inside and outside of the museum, and are segmented based on form or function, with the area in which they were excavated determining their location of display. You should definitely not miss the 3 national treasures of the Cham culture, namely the Tara Bodhisattva Statue, My Son E1 Temple, and Tra Kieu Temple whilst visiting this fine museum.
