Cutty Sark

The last of its kind.

Hope on board the Cutty Sark, a yacht-like fast-sailing ship built in 1869. It is the last of its kind, after steam propulsion technology picked up speed in the maritime industry. It is also the world's only remaining tea clipper and was considered the fastest of its time, constantly breaking passage records in an age where speed was everything. Though the Cutty Sark only made eight journeys, each trip carried a shipment of tea amounting to over £18.5 million in today's equivalent! Its deck caught fire during a 2006 restoration but thankfully, most of its parts had been taken away for improvements and not a lot of damage was done. It was then re-opened to the public in 2012 by the Queen herself.
