Cuartel del Conde Duque
From the army to the arts.
Originally ordered by King Phillip V to serve as accommodation for his army in Madrid, the Cuartel del Conde Duque has transformed into a cultural center. This 18th-century building is designed in the churrigueresque style, which is a Spanish Baroque style that was popular during that era. By 2011, the center was expanded and opened to the public not just to be a source of entertainment, but also one that celebrates cultural diversity. Music, drama, dance – all sorts of performing arts are shown here. Art lovers will also appreciate the beautiful exhibitions on display.
