A slice of Japan in the heart of Sydney.
Opened in 1979, Ken Nakajima designed the Kaiyushiki (strolling) Garden to replicate the Japanese landscape right in the city of Sydney. Enjoy the calm and peaceful surroundings of hills, manicured hedges, waterfalls and lakes, with unique features including a Bonsho Bell, a traditional Edo Cottage as well as a Bonsai House.
For a relaxing afternoon, savour a cup of tea at the authentic outdoor Tea House or feed the Koi carp by the lake. Furthermore, the Cultural Centre plays host to a variety of exhibitions and has two galleries that display an array of Japanese artwork and artefacts. Furthermore, it is home to several other activities that are truly Japanese, showcasing the rich culture Japan is known for. With activities ranging from calligraphy, origami, to ikebana, the art of flower arrangement, there is definitely something for everyone.
