Living life on the edge, literally.
If you’re exploring the Cinque Terre, Corniglia warrants a visit. It is a part of the commune of Vernazza, and unlike all the other localities in the five communities, it is not directly next to the sea. Instead, the buildings are found at the peak of a promontory, surrounded by verdant greenery made up of vineyards and terraces. Its fourth side descends sharply to the sea, and getting here is not for the faint-hearted (unless you’re traveling by vehicular road).
If you’ve wondered what it’d be like to live facing the sea, then the residents here are well acquainted with it. One side of all the houses face the road, while the other, the sea. Here, you can capture stunning panoramic views of the sea and the surrounding greenery. Historians have found that the town’s origins go all the way back to the Roman Age! Check out the Church of St. Peter, and for those brave enough to make their way to the beaches, you will be rewarded with crystal clear waters and sandy beaches. Don’t miss out on this quaint town while exploring the Cinque Terre!
