Copenhagen Zoo

Amazing animals from all over the world.

Home to over 3000 animals from about 264 species, the Copenhagen Zoo is the ideal spot for animal lovers to interact with their favourite critters as it has been doing so for the past century since its founding in 1859 by ornithologist Niels Kjaerbolling.

The zoo is known to have one of the best Elephant enclosures in the world that is designed by renowned British architect, Sir Norman Foster. The water here is deep enough for them to be submerged, allowing visitors to see them better up close. Lovers of arctic animals are also in for a treat at the Arctic Ring where you can see polar bears and seals. If you’re up for something warmer, head to the Tropical Zoo and observe all sorts of tropical animals with the likes of hornbills, dwarf deers, snakes and butterflies.

The zoo is not known simply for its expansive collection of animals but for some fairly historical buildings on site as well. The oldest in fact, is a stable designated for yaks that was built in 1872. Presently, it is the home of the zoo’s Bactrian camels.

To see animals from various climates and more, look no further than the Copenhagen Zoo!
