Colorado Boulevard Bridge

A bridge known for hanging in the balance between life and death.

From the dried up beds of Arroyo Seco, there was once one could stand directly under the grand arches of iron and concrete looping above you to hold up the Colorado Boulevard Bridge. From Pasadena to LA, the Colorado Bridge stretches, carrying commuters of all forms across its back. Within the seemingly hollow arches is 600 tons of steel reinforcing as commuters of all forms are carried over the bridge’s back in a day. Strolling across the bridge, the landscape opens up to sandy giant shoulders framed against the decorative balusters toppy by iron lamps for the evening. Yet as you walk along, goose bumps are bound to rise over your skin, particularly as night descends. This is when the whispers on the bridge get louder, the air tenser as the atmosphere takes a decidedly eerie turn. For when the sun sets, it’s said that more than just the shadows are said to come out to play.

Tips Before You Go
The Colorado Boulevard has over the years earned the title of Suicide Bridge for the 100 or so names that have been lost over the bridge’s rails. The first reported death was in 1919 but efforts have been stepped up to assist in suicide prevention. That doesn’t stem the stories of ghouls and spirits floating up from the bridge though and will have your skin prickling even in the bright light of day.
