The Colonne di San Lorenzo, or Columns of San Lorenzo, is the site of ancient Roman ruins consisting of 16 Corinthian columns arranged in a row that now fronts an open square. No one knows the origins of these imposing columns but it is said that they likely came from a 2nd century pagan temple or even a public bath house structure before being moved to their current location.
Today, it is one of the most popular places in Milan for young people to sit down and hang out together at night. More often than not, with beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other. Grab a drink from one of the nearby bars and appreciate the beauty of Milan from one of its ancient ruins by visiting Colonne di San Lorenzo.
