The Cologne City Museum is dedicated to well, the city of Cologne of course. Inside, visitors will learn all about the interesting aspects of the 2000-year-old city, all the way from the Middle Ages up till today. This armoury-turned-museum not only explores the political, cultural, and economic factors of the city, but it also gives greater insight on the everyday lives of the citizens of Cologne.


Visitors will see exhibits displaying things synonymous with the city, including the local beer Kölsch, as well as two characters from Cologne’s puppet theatre, Tünnes and Schäl. Besides that, visitors will also be able to learn more about the industrial revolution and its effects on the city, as well as the damages the city sustained during World War II, amongst others. If you ever find yourself in Cologne, this museum should be your first stop. You’ll get to learn more about her proud history and really immerse yourself in her rich culture. Tips Before You Go
Be sure to take the audio guides (included with the price of admission), as the exhibits are all in German. The museum is also fairly large, so expect to spend a couple of hours here. Besides that, do take note that the exhibits are arranged by theme and not by chronological order. As such, it is imperative that you take the audio guide so that you don’t end up being confused.
