Clovelly Beach

A cosy, peaceful beach spot.

Clovelly Beach is a small and serene beach that is situated at the tip of a narrow bay between two rocky ridges. Located just 8-kilometres just south-east of Sydney's Central Business District (CBD), this beach is hugly popular among families adn snorkellers. While Australia's beaches are famous for their white sands and sparkling oceans, the Clovelly Beach defies the convention of a typical Australian beach. Located at the end of a narrow bay, the beach is fitted with concrete platforms and promenades on both sides of the bay, and these structures are popular sun-baking spots amongst tourists! Furthermore, there are access steps leading into water, making the Clovelly seem more like an ocean pool rather than a beach!

With its diverse range of marine life, the Clovelly Beach is also a highly popular snorkelling location. Should you be a beginner snorkeller or already have had prior experience in snorkelling, one must definitely hit the waters at the Clovelly Beach. Home to a large local blue grouper - commonly known as 'Bluey' by locals - along with lobsters, octopuses and sea urchins, snorkelling here is deinitely a feast for your eyes. Do ensure you do not pick up any of the shells here, as they provide shelter to living organisms and as such is prohibited, regardless of whether the original inhabitant of the shell is dead or alive. The CLovelly Beach is also home to the Clovelly Surf Life Saving Club, one of the initial lifesaving clubs in the world that was established in 1906. A fantastic place to simply relax and unwind, the Clovelly Beach is ma must-visit if you're simply looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
