Some blockbuster films including Gladiator, Troy, Hidalgo and Cleopatra were shot in Morocco, paving way for the inception of CLA Studios.
If you didn’t know it already, Morocco has actually been a rather popular filming site for some blockbuster Hollywood films, such as Gladiator. It was after the upswing in popularity that three groups: Cinecittà, Sanam Holding and Dino de Laurentiis, came together to form what is now known as CLA Studios back in 2004. Besides Hollywood films, even famous television series have been filmed here, including the insanely popular Game of Thrones series. The studio itself seems to have been strategically built, with tall mountains dotting the landscape in the background. Located in the town of Ouarzazate, which is also known as the “door to the desert”, the studio has breathtaking views of natural valleys and gorges. What’s more, there are numerous mountains nearby, as well as a desert, making it highly convenient to film all sorts of ancient battles if the need arises. The filming sets in CLA Studios are also open to the public, thus allowing you to take a tour through various film sets and observe the entire film production process. If you’ve always wondered about how some of your favourite movies and TV shows were made, then look no further than the wonderful CLA Studios.
