A meta-palace experience.
Resting along the banks of Pichola is the city palace of Udaipur, the biggest palace in Rajasthan. Although construction for this monument started in 1559 by the will of Maharana Udai Singh, it took centuries to build, finally completed sometime in the 18th century. Made using granite and marble, this palace interestingly fuses Medieval, Chinese, and European architectural styles.
Within the palace complex you will find courtyards, gardens, pavilions, towers, and different palaces, commissioned by different rulers. Enter the Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace) and be surrounded by mirrors, or make your way to the Badi Mahal, a garden palace that is built upon a rock formation. Not forgetting, visit the Bhim Vallas which is home to several miniature paintings, largely showcasing the story of Radha-Krishna. These are just some examples of what you will encounter on your visit to Udaipur’s amazing City Palace.
