City of Pasadena City Hall

Spanish regalia standing proud on the edge of LA.

The throne of Pasadena resides in the City Hall, an elaborate arrangement of spires and columns which seems like it was lifted off the shores of the Mediterranean and dropped down into the middle of LA. Modeled after the Spanish Colonial Revival Era buildings, its cream exterior dominates the street. In fact its rust red dome stands out above the low-lying buildings from several streets around as a beacon directing you to the location. Within its four wings are a grand total of 235 rooms linked by spotless corridors. A central courtyard shaded by sparse trees provides plenty of benches for you to take a seat and admire the scenery while you’re at it, shielded by the City Hall’s four walls from the often loud and distracting noises of the street outside. But perhaps the City Hall is dressed in her best at the turn of dusk, when the spotlights blink on and its plain colored exteriors light up in the dazzling hues of the sky. An alcove of quiet for that much needed mid-day break, the City Hall is a sight to impress.

Tips Before You Go
More than once, the City Hall’s grand structure has caught the eyes of movie directors a few counties away. The most notable has to be the Mission Impossible shots that were done around the City Hall. It would be rather interesting to match movie scene to real-life location, especially if you’re a fan of Bond.
