Cinquantenaire (Jubelpark)

Celebrating its independence with this gift to its people.

Enjoy some peace with nature by visiting the Parc du Cinquantenaire, of Jubelpark, in Brussels. Lush greenery with lovely trees such as the Austrian Oak and Italian Alder can be found on the grounds, giving you a beautiful natural backdrop for pictures or just to enjoy.

The term “Parc du Cinquantenaire” translates to mean “Park of the fiftieth anniversary”, and it is named precisely so because it was built to celebrate fifty years of Belgian independence, under the rule of King Leopold II. At that time, this pentagon-shaped park was utilised as a training ground for the military. Home to a couple of museums such as an art museum, army museum and also The Autoworld, the place is bound to engage you and ensure you are well occupied for the entire day. Today, you can see joggers, sunbathers, families picnicking, or if you’re lucky, even a concert in the Parc du Cinquantenaire.
