Church of the Holy Ghost (Heiliggeistkirche)

A grand Baroque church, beautifully decorated and considered the finest Baroque Protestant church in the country.

The grandiose and elegant Church of the Holy Ghost is widely accepted as the finest Baroque Protestant church in Switzerland. Its majestic façade is decorated with tall, graceful arched windows, and features a tower with a slender steeple reaching up into the heavens, guaranteed to inspire awe in onlookers.

On the inside, the church exudes a feather-light aura despite its size. The high, canopy-like ceiling makes it seem more spacious, and the church is beautifully decorated with pastel patterns criss-crossing through the ceiling and pillars. Be sure to visit at the choir stalls, which date back to the original church built on this site – it was torn down and replace with the church we see today. The wooden pews are unusually decorated, featuring Medieval seals and coats-of-arms instead of figurative carvings.
