Christ the King Cathedral, Nha Trang

The mother church of the Catholic Diocese in Nha Trang.

Situated in Nha Trang city center, Christ the King Cathedral (otherwise locally known as Stone Church or Mountain Church), is a grandiose, unique place of worship that has been around since 1928. During French colonial rule, Hon Mot mountain was segregated, and the western half of the mountain was set aside for the construction of the cathedral. Construction was officially completed on December 1941. Since then, Christ the King Cathedral has served as the mother church of the Catholic community in Nha Trang, and continually amazes and inspires all who visit with its elegant beauty.

The cathedral has heavy Gothic influences, and is best known for its remarkable stained glass windows depicting saints such as St. Joan of Arc and St. John Vianney and the bronze bells located in its bell tower. The 3 bells were designed by Bourdon Carillond, a renowned French bell firm, and each bell sounds at a different pitch – E-flat, C and A. The cathedral is perfect for those seeking a tranquil sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of city life, and is a worthwhile destination for photographers with its beautifully decorated interior and Romanesque exterior.
