Chimei Museum (奇美博物馆)

Bringing a piece of the West to the East.

Driven by nostalgia and the noble cause of educating the public, the founder of the Chi-Mei Group established the Chimei Museum in 1992. Now located at the Tainan Metropolitan Park in Taiwan, the primary purpose of this museum is to give locals the opportunity to learn about Western culture and art in Taiwan itself, without having to pay hefty sums to travel overseas. Following the maxim of “good things are meant to be shared”, the museum has a collection of about 7000 art pieces, ranging from Western paintings and sculptures to armour and ancient weapons. Observe jaw-dropping ancient works of art, spanning a time frame of over 2 millennia in their Sculpture Halls, get a taste of musical instruments from diverse cultures in their Musical Instruments Exhibition (the Chimei Museum has one of the largest violin collections in the world!) or even understand evolution a little better at their Natural History & Fossils exhibition – the choice is yours at the Chimei Museum!
