Charging Bull

A rebel with a cause.

At the financial district in Manhattan, between Broadway and Morris Street lies a work of art with the most rebellious backstory. Artist Arturo Di Modica proved himself to be a maverick with the way he placed his 3.5-ton bronze sculpture of the Charging Bull (or Wall Street Bull), in front of the New York Stock Exchange in 1989. He observed that the area was patrolled every 5-6 minutes, and thus, he and his friends had to place the 18-feet bull within 4.5 minutes. His plan was almost foiled when the next day, a large Christmas tree was placed there, but being the genius that he was, he kept the bull under the Christmas Tree like a present. The bull was later moved in front of the Bowling Green, to be appreciated for the spirit of hard work, courage, and determination that it was intended to be.
