Changdeokgung Palace (창덕궁)

A 600-year-old UNESCO World Heritage Site, the grand Changdeokgung Palace is the city’s jewel.

The grand, imperial Changdeokgung Palace is said to be one of the most historically significant attractions in Korea, constantly attracting swarms of locals and tourists. In the olden days, it was place of residence for kings of the Joseon Dynasty but was unfortunately destroyed by a fire started by angry citizens in 1952. Despite the tragedy, the majestic palace continues to stand as one of the five remaining Joseon palaces, with Changdeokgung renowned for its traditional architecture design and beautiful gardens. A breathtaking Secret Garden awaits, bringing you a magical experience especially when the red and orange hues of Autumn are reflected against the waters. Remember to stick around for the unique performances during the ‘Guard Changing Ceremony’, and keep a look out for people dressed in traditional Hanbok. For a true Korean imperial experience, Changdeokgung Palace is certainly the place for you.
