Utrecht, Netherlands
Centraal Museum

Netherlands’ oldest municipal museum.

Found in the medieval cloister on the Nicolaaskerkhof since the early 20th century, the Centraal Museum is preceded by the Municipal Museum of Antiquities, which was found on the top floor of Utrecht’s downhill. After many merges in the following decades, the museum has come to acquire the various collections you can admire today. From the 1850s to modern art, and even fashion for the aspiring designers, there’s much to see! Historians, learn the history of the city through the paintings here that display its past.

Works by well-known Utrecht artists, Dick Bruna and Gerrit Rietveld, can be found here. This includes Rietveld’s “Red and Blue Chair”, and “Tafellamp”. Dick Bruna’s beloved “Miffy” was born here, at his design studio. The kids will definitely be thrilled to see the theme rooms, where they can follow Miffy and her friends on seemingly mundane experiences that will prove to be anything but. With this much to see and do, what are you waiting for?
