Dubai’s twisting tower is a not just a tongue twister.
Whenever you’re reading a good story, you like a good twist don’t you? Such terms can be used to describe the Cayan tower in Dubai. Towering at a height of over 300m tall, this skyscraper twists beautifully, like a model twirling in a long, slinky gown. At this time of its inauguration, it was the tallest twisting tower in the world, twisting for 90 degrees, but has since been overtaken. The company who designed the tower, Skidmore, Owings and Merrill SOM architectural group, has some serious credentials to its name in the world of tall towers, including the likes of the Burj Khalfa in Dubai and the Trump Tower in Chicago.
This is not just a pretty piece of architecture to please your eyes – some lucky people live here as well. Many of the flats have wooden floors, marble countertops, and have been cleverly designed to block those pesky blinding rays of sunlight from entering the home. See this architectural wonder for yourself by visiting the Cayan Tower.
