Cat Ba Island

Visit Cat Ba Island to discover nature’s last bastion of hidden secrets.

Cat Ba is the largest of 367 islands in the Cat Ba archipelago on the southeastern edge of Ha Long Bay. Cat Ba is a lovely, rugged piece of nature that is full of unexplored caves, jungles and waterfalls. Craggy mountains rise to greet you as you sail on the calm turquoise waters surrounding the island, marveling at the elemental beauty around you. The island is full of mystery, with unexplored beach coves and limestone forests waiting for you at every turn. Although the main part of Cat Ba Town is now being developed into a fast-growing chain of international hotels along its once-untouched bay, the rest of the island is still largely wild and untouched by human industry. The island is also well-known for its spectacular limestone hills and other natural rock formations, which give the island a sense of majestic serenity. But don’t just stare at them, because you can climb them too, and feel as if you’re on top of the world.

Tips Before You Go
It is recommended that you take a tour from Cat Ba Island to see Ha Long Bay and its surrounding areas, in order to beat the tourist crowds. There are few ATMs in the town so it’s best to have enough cash on you. You might think that just having a card would be enough, but not every place here accepts them.
