Casa Manila

A history museum showcasing Spanish colonisation in the Philippines.

Casa Manila is a museum situated in Intramuros in the Philippines which showcases life during the colonial era under Spanish rule. The building is made of stone and wood and is situated across the historic San Augustin church and bounded by General Luna, Calle Real, Cabildo and Urdaneta streets. Interestingly, this museum is a replica of a 1850s San Nicolas House situated in Calle Jaboneros. The architect of this building was J. Ramon L. Faustmann and it was built during the 1980s modelled after typical Spanish colonial architecture. Drop by for a peak into the opulent lifestyle of the gentry in the 19th century and discover the intricate and beautiful architecture and interior design of the late Spanish period, with lavish features throughout the compound such as a double-seated toilet!
