Cape Lefkatas

A legendary point that has stood against the test of time, Cape Lefkatas is a window to humanity’s past.

Greece, the land of the ancient, is a treasure trove of history and mythology. Gifted and blessed are those who explore her for they are witnesses to her glory, be it of the past or the present. The land of many firsts, from democracy to literary classics to the famous Hippocratic Oath, this country is one of the oldest civilisations in the world. One of the many historical sites in Greece is Cape Lefkatas, situated in the southwestern tip of the island of Lefkadas. However, once you reach the Lighthouse of Dukato, you will know that it was worth the ride up. The scenery here is splendid and you will get to see the neighbouring Kefalonia and Ithaca islands. Legend has it that the poet Sappho, whose love was unrequited, fell to her death here, which is why this place is also called “Kavos tis Kyras” or “The Cape of the Lady”. It was also used as a sacrificial site and a place of punishment in different periods.
