A public square whose chaotic charm belies its intriguing history.

A bustling hub of Roman life since the middle ages, the Campo de' Fiori has maintained its vivacious vibes to this day. Once the site for public executions, look out for the Giordano Bruno Monument. This Dominican monk was burnt alive for his radical thoughts but honoured as a martyr upon the unification of Italy in the late 19th century.


See the past re-enacted through street names such as Via dei Balestrari (crossbow-makers street) and Via dei Giubbonari (tailor’s street) to get an idea of trades from an era long gone. Alongside the two, Arco degli Acetari is a tiny piazza where vinegar-makers reside, yet another trade long gone for factory lines.
