Cambodian Landmine Museum

Learn about landmines and their impact on Cambodia.

For many of us, dealing with landmines is not a primary concern but for several people in Cambodia, this concern is a reality they have to face on a daily basis. In a land where child soldiers were used to fight internal wars, one individual managed to break free and thereafter, established this museum as a method of raising awareness on the landmine problem. Aki Ra was the child soldier who went back to the very villages he planted landmines in, defused them and charged tourists a fee to view them, thus sparking off the idea for a landmine museum.

Today, the museum aims to highlight the importance of clearing these landmines, with about an estimated 5 million still left untouched, as well as to raise funds for the unfortunate victims of landmine explosions. Learn more about this worthy cause by first paying a visit to the Cambodian Landmine Museum in Banteay Srey.
