A science discovery like no other.
In the Golden State the California Science Center is proof that science doesn’t have to be stuffy. From the final frontiers of the universe to deep flowing rivers; this museum boasts plenty of fascinating exhibitions. Since 1998 the Science Center has flung open its doors seven days a week, inviting curious kids and amazed adults into its world.
The star of the show is the space shuttle Endeavor. An awe inspiring real shuttle hanging from the ceiling like a rare white whale. This impressive heat scorched ship was NASA’s final project in their shuttle program. She has traveled 123 million miles through time and space, before finally being gifted to the museum. To set the mood for intergalactic exploration; you can ride a shuttle stimulator and press plenty of beeping buttons in the mission control center.
Away from the exploding stars of space we come back down to earth at the Ecosystems exhibition. Take a look at some of the world’s harshest environments – from wind swept deserts to rock strewn shores. Explore the tangled kelp forest with 1500 glittering fish skirting through the undergrowth. Turn your nose up at the rot room where animals and plants sink into the soil to feed new life with nutrients.
Along with the four major exhibits, plenty of changing exhibitions come and go at the museum. The IMAX cinema also boasts brilliant entertainment with its array of nature films. Forget yawn-worthy museums, the California Science Center will keep your eyes wide open.
