Stairway to dinosaur heaven.
Knowing that the dinosaurs used to roams the earth tens of millions of years ago is one thing, but the feeling of gazing at their real life, actual footprints is truly indescribable. Rewind back to the Jurassic period, and this site was once a great lake that attracted dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes. The creature’s massive feet left deep footprints in the wet soil, which were later preserved for all posterity when droughts swept through the lands, and then sealed in with more wet soil. This pattern repeated on and on until layers of over 5000 footprints built up which are continuously being revealed to us today.
What’s even more incredible is that way the tectonic plates shifting has lifted the ground into a vertical cliff that rises 80 metres into the air and is over 1.2 km long, creating a marvelous site of trails of dinosaur footprints climbing up into the sky. One of the most special is the 347 metre long line of prints made by “Johnny Walker”, a baby T-rex, and another that is the longest track ever recorded - over 550 metres long! It doesn’t get more real than this, so travel back in time to gain a little more insight into a period that remains shrouded in mystery.
