Madrid, Spain
Caixa Forum

Appearing to defy gravity, this building is art inside and out.

In Paseo del Prado, Madrid, you will discover a museum and cultural center that appears to be an optical illusion. The Caixa Forum building is a work of art on its own, appearing to defy gravity as a floating entity. Open daily; this center is sponsored by La Caixa, one of Spain's biggest private non-profit financial institutions.

The center plays host to all things culture vultures will enjoy – art exhibitions, poetry recitals, and educational workshops being just some examples. In fact, it even opened Spain's first vertical garden, which houses over 15,000 plants. So get your tickets and absorb the culture in Spain's capital.

Tips Before You Go
The Caixa Forum attracts large crowds on weekends, but it can get rather packed on weekdays too, due to visiting schoolchildren on excursion. Do bear in mind that this is a popular place for pickpockets to hang about, so make sure you keep a close eye on your belongings as you walk around the compound.
