Ca’ Pesaro

A Marbled Veneer Unlike Any Other.

The Ca’ Pesaro is a modern art gallery with a baroque, marble façade. The building itself is an immaculate work of art, located on the Grand Canal. It was commissioned by the noble Pesaro family and designed by a famed Venetian architect, Baldassarre Longhena. Construction began in 1659, but unfortunately, Longhena died before the project could be completed. It was then passed on to an Italian architect, Gian Antonio Gaspari, who oversaw works till the completion of the gallery in 1710. The building was a palace until it was bought over by Duchess Felicita Bevilacqua who bequeathed it to Venice in 1898, as a modern art museum.
