A Greek national museum that is full of treasures and rich in its collection of religious artifacts, the Byzantine museum offers a seemingly never-ending range of items that extend from the early Christian, to the Byzantine period as well as the post-Byzantine period, thereby making it a valuable museum to the Greeks. One could travel back in time to peruse through the numerous artworks in the Byzantine period such as ceramics, paintings, mosaics, sculptures and even icons that are reminiscent of its culture, or explore more recent artworks dating from the 15th century to the 20th century. Even the Villa Ilissia - the villa which houses the Museum, is also a sight to behold, as you can expect to see chalk-white walls with intricate details reminiscent of the Classicism and Romanticism periods & elements.

Complete with both indoor and outdoor exhibitions to view, a lovely garden and a nice restaurant, the Byzantine and Christian museum is an ideal place to spend at least half a day strolling through the area and exploring the many treasures within.
