Bundek Park

Live like a local at this lake in Zagreb.

Want to experience a day of family fun like a local in Zagreb? Then head down to Bundek Park, which is home to one of the biggest lakes in Zagreb. The 50,000 square-meter lake consists of the Big Lake - which has a large bank and is safe to swim in when weather permits, and the Small Lake, where swimming is not recommended as it is a habitat for plant and animal species. It is not uncommon to see locals running or cycling at the 700m path around the lake. Grill masters, this is the perfect place to flex your muscles; there are stone grills strategically located in the park and sheltered by arbors so that wet weather will not pose a problem. There are even two playgrounds to keep the little ones occupied! Moreover, if you happen to visit during the summer or autumn months, you might even be able to catch one of the outdoor concerts or open cinemas hosted by Bundek!

Tips Before You Go
Springtime is the best time to visit the park. The flowers will be in full bloom by then and floral arts festivals are held here too. This park primarily caters to families and as such, it can get a little crowded on weekends. Regardless, if you\'re curious about how locals spend their family time, then this is a great place to visit. Bring some food as well, even if you don\'t plan on staying long and eating here. There are a wide variety of birds that call this park home and locals typically feed them with bread and other snacks.
